In the unfolding chronicle of the global Apostolic movement, some lives read like bridges; spanning pulpit and policy, sanctuary and society, faith and frontline care. Barbara Stewart is one such bridge. With decades of service that weave pastoral authority, clinical expertise, humanitarian diplomacy, and Pan-African leadership, her legacy is not merely what she proclaims; but what she builds, heals, and sustains across borders. As the old adage goes, “The proof of fire is the ashes it leaves behind.”
Dr. Stewart’s ashes are institutions, healed lives, and empowered women.
Apostolic Calling with Clinical Precision
Ordained as a pastor and serving as an International Chaplain, certified Marriage Counsellor, and registered Marriage Officer, Dr. Stewart embodies a distinctly Apostolic grammar; sent to heal, teach, reconcile, and restore (Luke 4:18). What sets her ministry apart is its clinical intelligence. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Grief Educator, she refuses to treat grief as a footnote to faith; instead, she opens it as a doorway to transformation (Psalm 34:18).
As a Master Christian Transformational Therapist and Certified Master Transformational Coach Trainer, she demonstrates that Spirit-led ministry can be deeply biblical and professionally rigorous. In her hands, prayer meets process; faith meets evidence; compassion meets structure. “Wisdom is the principal thing” (Proverbs 4:7), and Dr. Stewart’s ministry is wisdom applied.
From Bedside to Global Peace Tables
Before the platforms and policy rooms, there was the bedside. More than 25 years in nursing formed a theology of compassion rooted in practice; hands that heal before hands that hold microphones.
That same compassion now informs her service as a Humanitarian Peace Ambassador under the United Nations, where faith-shaped values are translated into peacebuilding, women’s empowerment, and community resilience.
She proves that Apostolic ministry in the Diaspora can speak fluently in global governance without losing its prophetic edge—as wise as serpents, yet harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16).

Legacy is institutional. Personalities fade; structures endure. As Founder/CEO of BNJ Holistic Counselling and Wellness Center Inc., Women of Virtue, and Gift of Life Global Impact Foundation Inc., Dr. Stewart has built platforms that outlive applause. These initiatives reach seniors and youth, champion cultural education, support mental health, and distribute medical supplies; turning compassion into systems.
Here, ministry is not episodic but ecosystemic; where spiritual care, mental health, education, and humanitarian relief move together. “A wise woman builds her house” (Proverbs 14:1), and Dr. Stewart has built houses many can live in.
Pan-African Leadership in the Sixth Region
Her Apostolic reach widens through Pan-African service. As Vice Chair of the African Union Sixth Region Global and long-serving Deputy Secretary-General of the African Union Sixth Region Canada, she has helped define Diaspora engagement as both spiritual vocation and civic responsibility. Her stewardship with Global African Magazine (GAMM) amplifies African and Diaspora narratives, shaping thought leadership that honors heritage while engaging modern realities.
She reminds the Diaspora that roots matter; and that influence is strongest when identity is intact.
Mentor of Women, Builder of Futures
At the heart of her work are women; healed, trained, and released. As a Board Director and Advisor to Women Helping Women to Help Themselves, and through Women of Virtue, she models Apostolic motherhood: raising leaders who multiply impact (Titus 2:3–5). Her coaching in grief, loss, and empowerment equips women not merely to survive trauma, but to steward influence and shape destiny.
As the saying goes, “When you educate a woman, you educate a nation.”
Honors That Reflect Substance
Recognition follows impact. From Canada’s 100 Black Women to Watch to the Glorious Women of Wonders Excellent Achievement Award and the Hon. Jean Augustine Scholarship Award, these honors mark a journey of faithful excellence; earned in clinics, churches, classrooms, and communities. They are not ornaments, but mileposts.
