AGBARA, OGUN STATE — The Agbara Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) witnessed a landmark moment of honour and advancement as forty (40) officers were formally decorated following their promotion from Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police II (ASP II), reinforcing the Command’s strategic relevance within the ongoing nationwide restructuring of the Force.
The Agbara ceremony forms part of a historic promotion exercise across the NPF, which saw 74,352 officers elevated between January 2025 and early February 2026, spanning ranks from Constables to Assistant Inspectors-General of Police. Of this figure, 30,828 officers rose from Inspector to ASP II, while 13,496 advanced from ASP II to ASP I, making it one of the most comprehensive and structured promotion drives in recent years.
Within this sweeping national reform, 40 officers were promoted to ASP II in Agbara Area Command, with 10 drawn from Agbara Division under the leadership of CSP Abiodun Ayinde, underscoring the Division’s operational strength and growing leadership capacity.
For Ogun State, particularly Agbara, a rapidly expanding industrial and commercial hub; the decoration represents both operational reinforcement and institutional confidence.
Promotion: A Call to Higher Responsibility
Presiding over the ceremony, the Area Commander, ACP Tanaruno Folashade Anthonia, described the elevation as a reward for dedication, discipline, and professionalism.
She emphasized that promotion is not ceremonial recognition alone but a call to deeper responsibility.
“The reward for hard work is more work,” she charged, reminding the officers that the stars newly pinned to their shoulders symbolize trust, authority, and accountability.
ACP Tanaruno reiterated the Force’s commitment to discipline, respect for human rights, and community-oriented policing as core pillars guiding their expanded roles.
She further expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM; the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D.; and the Police Service Commission for sustaining timely promotions that boost morale and enhance service delivery nationwide.
