The quiet atmosphere of Owode-Egba in Ogun State was shattered on June 21, 2026, when a chilling discovery exposed one of the most disturbing murder cases in recent memory.
What initially appeared to be a mysterious disappearance soon unfolded into a carefully orchestrated act of vengeance, betrayal, and cold-blooded murder that claimed the lives of respected businesswoman Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
Yet, amid the bloodshed and destruction, a seemingly insignificant handwritten note left behind by the killers became the clue that unraveled the entire conspiracy.
In an extraordinary combination of forensic science, intelligence gathering, technical tracking, and painstaking detective work, the Ogun State Police Command successfully identified, tracked, and arrested all suspects linked to the crime within days.
The case has since become a remarkable example of modern criminal investigation in Nigeria.

A HOUSE OF HORROR
At approximately 4:00 p.m. on June 21, concerned individuals alerted police authorities after suspicious circumstances were noticed at Madam Oyesiku's residence.
The front entrance showed signs of forced entry. The security post was locked. Something was terribly wrong. Responding detectives immediately stormed the property.
What awaited them inside was horrifying.
The body of Pelumi Adetayo, the security guard entrusted with protecting the premises, was discovered lifeless inside the security house.
Inside the main residence, Madam Olakitan Oyesiku lay in a pool of blood.
The scene suggested not merely a robbery but a deliberate and violent attack.
As investigators examined the compound, another crucial discovery emerged: the deceased's Lexus RX 330 SUV had vanished. The hunt for the killers had begun.
THE FORENSIC CLUE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Every crime scene tells a story. The challenge is finding someone who can read it. Among the evidence collected by investigators was a handwritten note apparently abandoned by the perpetrators.

However, detectives discovered the original number plate hidden beneath one of the vehicle's seats.
That recovery confirmed beyond doubt that the vehicle belonged to the murdered businesswoman. The recovery was a turning point. The circle around the perpetrators was rapidly closing.
THE FALL OF THE MASTERMINDED PLOT
Three days after the discovery of the murders, detectives struck.
On June 24, operatives arrested 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.
Investigators would soon discover that Philip was not merely involved. He was allegedly the architect of the entire operation.
Further investigations led to the arrest of two accomplices:
Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola (27) – a security guard. Sobu Obafunsho (36) – a bricklayer.
Their arrests effectively dismantled the criminal network responsible for the killings.
"I WANTED TO TEACH HER A LESSON"
Perhaps the most shocking revelation emerged during interrogation.
According to police authorities, Philip confessed to participating in the murder and admitted recruiting the other two suspects.
Investigators say he disclosed that the attack stemmed from grievances he harboured against Madam Oyesiku during his previous employment as a security guard in her service.
His motive, according to the confession, was chillingly simple:
"To teach her a lesson."
Those words now stand as a disturbing reminder of how unresolved resentment can evolve into deadly violence.
HOW THE ATTACK UNFOLDED
According to the confessional statements obtained during the investigation, the attack occurred on Saturday, June 20.
The suspects allegedly targeted the security guard first.
After overpowering Pelumi Adetayo, they reportedly used him to gain access into the residence. Once inside, they launched an attack on Madam Oyesiku.
Investigators say both victims were subsequently murdered before the suspects fled with the Lexus RX 330. The brutality of the operation suggests planning, coordination, and a clear understanding of the property's security structure.
RECOVERED WEAPONS OF VIOLENCE
Further searches conducted at locations connected to the suspects yielded additional evidence.
Among items recovered were:
A broken hammer
A cutlass
Wooden planks
A black pen
Other exhibits linked to the investigation
These items are expected to play significant roles in the prosecution process as forensic and evidential examinations continue.

Beyond the tragedy itself, the case demonstrates the increasing role of forensic science and technology in contemporary policing.
For decades, homicide investigations in Nigeria often relied heavily on eyewitness accounts and confessions.
