Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY) have recorded significant operational successes across Kaduna State, recovering rustled livestock, arresting suspected bandits, and restoring public order in separate security operations conducted between June 20 and 21, 2026.

The operations, which form part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks in the North-West region, were carried out through intelligence-led missions and aggressive patrols targeting criminal elements.

According to a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops swiftly responded to credible intelligence on cattle rustling activities on June 20. Upon making contact with the fleeing criminals, security personnel engaged them in a firefight, neutralizing two suspected bandits and recovering weapons, ammunition, and rustled livestock.

The operation successfully disrupted the criminal activity and facilitated the recovery of the stolen animals. However, one civilian was reportedly killed during the incident as a result of the actions of the bandits.

In another breakthrough on the same day, troops on a night patrol intercepted two suspected bandits. A search conducted on the suspects led to the discovery of digital materials believed to contain evidence linking them to terrorist and bandit activities. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.

The following day, troops conducting a fighting patrol encountered armed criminals who fled into nearby bushes after coming under pressure from advancing forces. The troops maintained pursuit and apprehended two suspected bandit scouts. Recovered items included motorcycles and communication devices containing incriminating information. Investigations are ongoing to establish the extent of their involvement in criminal operations.

Meanwhile, troops were also deployed to Mararraba community following a civil disturbance triggered by the mob killing of a woman accused of child trafficking. The situation escalated when the crowd attempted to attack public facilities and obstruct a major highway.

Security forces responded promptly, dispersing the mob, securing critical infrastructure, and restoring normal movement along the affected route. Their intervention prevented further breakdown of law and order and ensured the safety of residents and commuters.

Commending the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, the Theatre Commander said the recent operational gains demonstrate the resolve of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to relentlessly pursue terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening peace in the region.

He reassured residents that ongoing offensive and intelligence-driven operations would be sustained to further degrade criminal networks and strengthen security across the North-West.
